Please join us for ‘An evening of Rhythms from Nepal’ and a traditional Nepalese banquet. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Children Welfare Centre (CWC) Nepal.
CWC is a non-profit, privately owned and operated non-government organisation established in 1995 in Kathmandu, Nepal. CWC was founded to provide dedicated care for children who are orphaned, underprivileged, socially oppressed, or abandoned by their parents and society. CWC aims to help children regain their right to a childhood, education, and love and gives a future to some of the most impoverished children in the country, which is among the poorest in the world. Without this haven, the children would be on the streets and vulnerable to child labour and sex-trafficking, both of which are widespread in Nepal. CWC does not receive any support from the government of Nepal and relies solely on private donations.
Entertainment will be provided by internationally renowned Nepalese born, Brisbane based tabla play Dheeraj Shrestha. Dheeraj is recognised as the foremost classical tabla player in Australia and has an international following. He has collaborated with the likes of Harry Angus of the Cat Empire, Lior, and Afro Dizzi Act drummer Mark Henmann.
Tickets are $50 pp. Payment in advance is appreciated. Please contact us for account details. BYO beer and wine.
After the evening wraps up at around 10pm, we’ll be moving on to a private residence just around the corner. It’s the same venue as our Changeover afterparty, for those who attended.
RSVP by Tuesday 9 August by email rotaractswb@hotmail.com or phone 0403 911 714. Please confirm your attendance by email or phone even if you indicate you’re attending on Facebook.
We hope to see you there!
